Out of the Box

My prediction is that this single moment of clarity will result in a big change in advertising.
Isn’t it amazing how some people can look at a truck and see a truck, while someone else can look at a truck and see, well, an advertisement opportunity?
Today I had lunch with one of my clients, Jesse Zogleman. I’ve known and worked with Jesse for about 6 years now and he is one of those people who is constantly on the go, always thinking of the next big thing.
Today’s next big thing blew me away. Jesse saw all the semi-trailers with blank white sides and decided that maybe he should be using those to advertise. So he made a deal with AT&T and a local trucking company that resulted in the form of rolling billboards. These “18 wheelers” are now sporting ads for the new phone directory.
If you think about all the non-nondescript trucks rolling down the highway, completely white, devoid of any graphics you may see the tremendous opportunity that Jesse did.
You can even target your market by having ads on trucks that are only in one area, or only service one state, etc. You could advertise nationwide with transcontinental trucking companies.
My prediction is that this single moment of clarity will result in a big change in advertising… who needs a stationary billboard when you can take your message to the masses on a rolling billboard.
