And I am back!
Jan 15, 2023
After doing time as a cheer mom, I’m back to being the idea girl.
You may notice, or maybe not, that there’s a pretty long gap between this post and the last one. Well, life is an adventure.
Between feeling a bit burned out and being pulled to into the world of competitive cheerleading, I took a sabbatical. During this time I learned to love long drives to spend long days in crowds of cheering parents to pay huge fees so my daughter could dazzle me with her skills for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. You read that right.
Let me just say that I could have put my now adult daughter through college – twice – with the cost of uniforms, shoes, bows, hotels, gas, airplane tickets, registration fees, and, believe it or not, the cost of tickets to see all of the above.
No, I’m not bitter. I’m proud to have raised a young adult who, thanks to cheerleading, has a solid work ethic. She’s coachable (very good when your boss gives you pointers) and she knows how to be a great team player – win or lose.
Now that I have a lot more free time on my hands, I’m back to freelancing. Doing the marketing thing that I love, getting results.
During the day I’m a marketing director for a mid-sized manufacturing company in a department of 1 (so far). So I’m doing all the digital marketing a business requires, from developing websites, like this one – see my portfolio – to writing content, posting on social media, and running our successful email marketing program. So basically, I’ve kept up with all the latest and I have the working proof (and certificates) to show it.
Why freelance when I do this all day?
That goes back to my roots, where it all began for me in digital marketing, working with small to mid-size businesses that often don’t have the expertise or huge budgets to get results from their marketing. I find working with these types of clients rewarding. I enjoy celebrating their victories with them.
And you may be surprised to find that I’ve actually never really quit doing freelance work, I just stopped blogging about it.
So, I’m back. Hit me up.
